Manage positions

Read the positions table, close a position at market or limit, and share your PnL.

What is it?

Your open perpetual positions are listed in the Positions tab of the panel under the chart. The same list is under Portfolio → Positions. From there you can close a position, set take-profit / stop-loss and share your result.

Why would I use it?

  • To see each position's size, entry price, mark price, unrealised PnL, liquidation price and margin.
  • To take profit or cut a loss by closing all or part of a position.

What do I need?

How do I manage a position?

Read the table

ColumnMeaning
MarketThe market, with your leverage
ContractsPosition size in the asset, always a positive number. Long or short is shown by the row's colour bar
Avg. Entry PriceYour average entry price
Position ValueSize × mark price
Mark PriceThe price used for PnL and liquidation
U. PNLUnrealised profit or loss, with return on equity (ROE %)
TP / SLYour take-profit / stop-loss trigger prices, or Add
Liquidation PriceWhere the position would be liquidated. Cross positions show an estimate (Est.)
MarginFor isolated positions, the collateral posted to the position; for cross positions, the position's maintenance margin requirement. The margin mode is shown in brackets

On screens 1280 px wide or narrower, positions show as cards with Close and TP/SL buttons.

Tick Show selected market only to limit the list to the market on screen.

Close a position

  1. Open the close dialog

Click the close icon on the position row, or Close Position under the order form. The keyboard shortcut is D then C.

  2. Choose Market or Limit
    • Market closes now. Check Max slippage and Fills no worse than.
    • Limit places a closing order at your price.
  3. Choose how much to close

Size to Close starts at the full position. Use 25%, 50%, 75% or MAX to close part of it.

  4. Confirm

Review the estimated exit price and PnL, then confirm. There is no second confirmation screen.

Adding or removing isolated margin

You can't add margin to, or remove margin from, an open isolated position: the exchange has no on-chain function for it, so the app does not offer it.

To lower the risk of an isolated position, reduce or close it instead.

Share your PnL

The share icon opens a PnL card showing ROE %, entry price and current price.

  • Choose a style: landscape or portrait layout; dark, chart or gradient background.
  • Share it: download it as an image, copy it, or post it to X.

What should I expect?

  • Market close: a toast confirms the position was closed, with a transaction link. A full close moves the position to Position History; a partial close leaves the rest open.
  • Limit close: the closing order appears under Orders until it fills. Placing a limit close first cancels any closing orders already resting for that position.

What can go wrong?

Insufficient market liquidity to close position. Please try requesting for a quotation or close your position using a limit order.

Why: There are no orders on the other side of the book, so a market close cannot fill.

Fix:

Switch to Limit and set a price, or try again when the book has liquidity. (The message mentions requesting a quotation; quotations are not offered.)

Your position can only be partially closed due to insufficient liquidity

Why: The book has less size than your position on the relevant side.

Fix:

Close in parts, or use a limit close for the rest.

Couldn't load your positions.

Why: The app could not reach the server to load your positions.

Fix:

Press Retry. Your positions are on-chain and are not affected by a display error.

How do I recover?

  • Closed too much or too little: open a new order for the difference (Place an order).
  • Limit close not filling: cancel it under Orders and close at market, or move your price.
  • Close to liquidation: deposit more (cross margin) or reduce the position. See Margin and liquidation.
